Greetings from the Trailer Park.
We're just about recovered from the Beat Herder.
Those of you who were there will know that we had some significant sound level problems on both Friday and Saturday night.
Just to be clear, we had installed an excellent soundsystem (18,000+ watts RMS) and were therefore confident that we would be able to put on a good show for the TT faithful. However we hadn't been told that the noise police would be turning up and placing a sound limiter on our rig.
The effect of this was that the big-top had a strict 90db limit in effect from midnight until four on the Friday and Saturday nights.
Bizarrely, the large crowd that had assembled actually reduced the available volume of the music because the noise level meter was so sensitive that it picked up the sound of cheering, chanting, whistling and clapping coming from the crowd and dipped the volume. You couldn't make it up!
Dub Phyzix, John Morales and Dj Format were consummate professionals in what was a very difficult situation.
Regardless of the sound problems we still had a brilliant time. The TT faithful pulled us through and there were jubilant scenes throughout the weekend. The festival is an annual opportunity to reconstitute the diaspora of likeminded souls that comprise our crew & friends both old and new.

So...deep breath...and onto the music.
In the first batch of mixes, three downloads recorded live at the festival are available for your listening pleasure. First up, peerless TT resident Peach regales with a selection of his dad's records - joking! He has his own music and it's almost impossible to describe in its majesty. Download or stream it HERE - go on, you'll enjoy it.
Hot on his heels, Red Jay warmed up for Dub Phyzix with a superb mix of techno, D & B and deep bass-driven tastiness. As one of our more versatile residents, he's making a habit of leaving the crowd perfectly primed for the guest DJ. You can download or stream his live mix HERE.
Next up - TT resident James Deane dug out some actual records old and new and put together a funky little offering of disco, funk and boogie tunes for his early Saturday evening time-slot. You can download or stream his mix HERE
Ticker Le Punk has become a bit of a regular at the Beat Herder over the past few years and it's easy to hear why. His knack for unearthing obscure and blindingly good records continues with his 2014 live mix, which he describes as Tramp-rock Vs Kaput Rock and is available to stream or download HERE.
Representing Chapter Four out of Hebden Bridge, Dillinger P graced the TT turntables with a fine selection of Roots Reggae which was perfect for the Sunday afternoon. A top geezer with some top tunes - what more can you ask for? His mix is available to stream or download HERE.
Karl Roscoe dug deep into his archive to pay homage to one of the truly great Detroit-based record labels - Underground Resistance. Showcasing the breadth of styles put out under this imprint - Karl's skillfully crafted set took in a few classics alongside some of their more obscure output. It can be downloaded or streamed HERE
Andy Pyett has graced the TT turntables regularly over the past few years. His peerless tune selection and solid mixing have won him a loyal following among the TT faithful. His acid house orientated selection can be streamed from his Sound Cloud page HERE.
Trailer Trash resident Lindsey has been with us since day-one. Her excellent taste in music and sheer eclecticism make her performances both memorable and unmissable. A unique blend of disco, electro, punk and anything else that takes her fancy, Lindsey's set can be downloaded or streamed HERE.
Thanks to Tom Joy & Duke Studios for kindly donating photos (above)- check out more of their truly awesome pictures from the Beat Herder HERE
Memories eh? Here is a video and picture montage from the festival - DOUBLE CLICK on the video to make it full size. Thanks to Steve Cobby for allowing us to use his music during the picture slide-show section.
That's it for now - but there will be more to follow. Pictures from the festival can be found on the bottom left of the main page.
